Best 2012 Performance Not In a Theater

The supporting actress lineup is a pretty solid one this year. Field, Adams or Hathaway would all make respectable winners. Hunt delivered her strongest work in at least a decade and Jackie Weaver was the glue that held Silver Linings together even if it's not the kind of performance that bowls you over and makes you scream "Awards!"

Having said all that, I'd gladly toss the whole lineup overboard if I could cast a vote for Parker Posey's performance on the Louie two-parter "Daddy's Girlfriend."Her "Liz" was electric to watch moment to moment in a way unrivaled by actresses in 2012. She showed the thrill of dating someone determined to make every waking moment unpredictable and alive, but also what an exhausting and often frightening thing it can be to go for that ride. Credit of course to CK for writing such a complex, fascinating character, but it's Posey who brings the lightning and makes it one for the ages.

  1. Can we also count her JAN, her Emmys promo? It's just... brilliant.

I'd watch a TV show of that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyFfo4UdzN0
